Javier Hernández : A Star Is Born!

Like most Manchester United fans I only heard of Javier Hernández when we announced his signing, I thought his name rang a bell but I wasn't too sure, the transfer didn't have that much press especially as it was around the time of our Champions League game with Bayern Munich and I only heard his name again from that day when England played a World Cup warm up friendly against Mexico. I remember they mentioned that he had scored 4 goals in 4 international games for them which sounded impressive and he looked sharp in that game despite not scoring but he did the business where it matters, unlike the England team, as he took the World Cup by storm. He scored against France as Mexico beat them 2-0, a well taken goal as he sidestepped Hugo Lloris before finishing into the open net. Impressive performances earned him his first start of the tournament against Argentina where he scored a quality goal turning Demichelis before firing with his left foot into the top left corner but unfortunately Mexico did not go on to win that match.

As I am a huge football fan I watched most of the World Cup games so seeing Hernández perform so highly was great to watch as it showed his huge amount of potential. When you look at some of the goals he has scored on youtube they are just class. His goal against Chelsea was hilarious when he shot and the ball deflected off his face into the back of the net, I'd like to add that I was extremely happy that United won 3-1. Since that goal he's gone on to score another 8 goals this season for Manchester United, every game we haven't been winning I have always been calling for him to come on. The first time was when we played Valencia away and I just kept saying bring Hernandez on and someone in the room said why he won't do anything so I said fine I'll bet you a tenner and what do you know he scored the winner! Sadly I didn't get the 10 pound but oh well United won and "Chicharito" scored so that's the main thing. Speaking of his nickname I'd like to say that I think its great, I think its sounds like a pokemon and yes after thinking that I did make a joke about Sir Alex saying 'I choose you Chicharito' which is funny or not depending on who you are haha.

Anyway back to where I was, following the Valencia game Javier Hernández has scored another 7 goals for United. He is already on his way to becoming a fan favourite at Old Trafford following crucial goals in games like the one against Stoke away in the Premiership, both goals in that game showed how great he is with his feet and his head as the backflick header in that game was just quality, it reminded me of a Teddy Sheringham type header. He went on to score in the last minute against Wolves and most recently grabbed a late winner against West Brom away to get 3 points for United and on Tuesday night he scored against Stoke in a 2-1 win at Old Trafford. That goal was his 9th of the season and made him the highest scoring Mexican in Premiership history. Sir Alex Ferguson recently compared Chicharito to Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following his knack for last minute goals just like the United legend. Hernández said he has much more to do before he can be compared to Ole, the young Mexican is making progress towards becoming the next baby faced assassin at the Theatre of Dreams and if he manages to emulate Solskjaer by grabbing a winning goal in a Champions League Final for United he really will be a star.
